Rocky Mountain Horses of Rebel Ridge

Mares

Sebastian's Lady Beth
Born June 19th,1990

This little mare is out of My Lady by Buddy Roe, which makes her a full sister of Sebastian’s Mountain King. She has the beautiful sculpted head expected from that cross, and she passes it to her offspring. Lady Beth had a very successful show career for the Sebastians under the tutelage of Donnie Gillum. As a 3 year-old, she won both the conformation and under- saddle classes at the International Show. Our only problem has been agreeing to sell her offspring.

Hope Springs Starlet
Born May 26th, 1992

“Chelsea”, a daughter of Mocha Mundy and Nuncio, was our first Rocky Mountain Horse, and has produced exceptional foals with both Blue and Johny. Her offspring have placed well in conformation and under-saddle with riders of all abilities—professional, amateur and youth. She is the dam of Rebel Ridge Anna, the 2008 Conformation Grand Champion and Sam Tuttle Award winner; Rebel Ridge Sally Wrenn, the 2006 and 2009 Western Pleasure Grand Champion; and Rebel Ridge Ellie, a multiple Champion and Grand Champion in Trail Pleasure, Western, and Amateur Trail Pleasure. Her daughter Remi and granddaughter Miss Vada have both won Gold recognition in the RMHA rated trail program.

Tabitha's Dream
Born July 30th ,1995

This classy little mare with a regal way of going is a daughter of Sebastian’s Fancy Lady and Tim. She had a successful show career as a young horse before being sold to Georgia. Tabitha is back in Kentucky now and has produced beautiful foals when bred to our black son of Buddy Roe. Her foals always have excellent conformation and have been appreciated by the judges when shown.  Tabitha's 2014 colt, Double Zero, will be no exception.  Born the morning after Marcus Lee, wearing the "00" jersey for the UK Wildcats, came off the bench to spark a victory in the NCAA tornament, "Dizzy" is living up to his siblings' reputation!  His full brother is a black stallion belonging to O/Neill Lawrence and is known for his conformation and his manners on the trail.  Some folks refer to this breeding (a daughter of Tim bred to a son of Buddy Roe) as the "Golden Cross".  It certainly has produced great results for us!

Rebel Ridge Lucy Long
Born May 22nd,1996

Lucy is a black daughter of Buddy Roe. Although she has a very smooth gait, she has always been a broodmare for us. We have bred her to Reb’s Big Blue or his son, Elton John, and she has produced outstanding chocolate or black fillies. Most of those fillies have been shown successfully and are enjoyed on the trail, as well as being used for breeding because of the excellent bloodlines. Her daughter, Carolina, was the high point winner both as a yearling and a two year-old and then returned to the 2012 International show and won the four year-old conformation and several under saddle classes.  Lucy's 2010 colt, Vindicator, won the two year-old colt conformation class at the International, and was then sold to a couple in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  The 2014 colt has now joined his brother in Wyoming.  The cross has been so successful that Lucy is again bred to Elton John for a 2016 foal.

Rebel Ridge Maggie Blue
Born March 30th,1997

Maggie is the product of our first two Rocky Mountain Horses, Hope Springs Starlet and Reb’s Big Blue, and has always been special. Shown successfully by many juvenile riders, Maggie is Elsie’s “pride and joy” and her mount for an occasional show. Maggie is a good example of a Rocky Mountain Horse—she can be enjoyed on the trail and turned out for the winter and then shown competitively with a few month’s conditioning and TLC.

Double J's Poison Ivy
Born July 18th,1998

Ivy is a beautiful black mare who has produced exceptional foals for us. She is a good mother and sweet-tempered horse—not the irritant suggested by her name. She is the dam of Blue’s Black Magic, the last colt sired by Reb’s Big Blue.  Magic has such a smooth gait and looks so much like his sire that we are hesitant to part with him.  Ivy is the dam of our 2013 filly, Virginia's Sweet Caroline.

Ivy's 2015 foal is a black colt named Ranger.  We think he has great conformation and much potential.
