Rocky Mountain Horses of Rebel Ridge

Mares

Red River Sugar
Born May 16th, 1999

Sugar is a light chocolate mare with a long white mane and tail. The two fillies she has produced since we have owned her have been two of the prettiest horses we have raised, and a colt, Rebel Ridge King Phillip, who is now a two year-old will probably be our next stallion . Sugar is a full sister of Red River Rock, a well-known stallion, and because of her wonderful, smooth gait is a favorite of Ron’s for a ride around the farm or on the trail.

Sugar's 2013 colt, Rebel Ridge Murphy, is chocolate with no white and with his mother's long mane and tail.  He remains a colt and is beginning his ground training with Orville Whalen.

We have appreciated the offspring (King Phillip and Murphy) of Sugar and Johny so much that we are repeating that same cross for a 2016 foal..

Rebel Ridge Samantha
Born June 12th, 2000

Samantha is a spirited black mare who bonded with our daughter, Lee, at an early age. She has a really stylish way of moving, reminiscent of her sire, Black Sam. She has been bred to our chocolate stallion Elton John, producing a beautiful filly who was sold to Virginia.  Her last foal was with our son of Buddy Roe and is a fine-looking yearling colt named Glen Allen.  He has an even blaze and is as gentle and friendly as he is handsome!

Becknell's Red River Tess
Born May 14th,2003

Tess is a perfect example of the qualities a Rocky is known for: beautiful, gentle, and smooth as glass. She has a slow amble that will almost lull a rider to sleep! Her first foal was a real farm favorite, and has been missed since leaving for his new home in Canada. When she is not bred, Tess is our demonstration horse; she is forgiving of the novice rider, and is a great ambassador for the breed.

Her last foal, also out of Johny's Pride (Son of  Buddy Roe), is now a black 3y.o.gelding who will begin his training in the Fall.
